Rainwater harvesting also reduces potable water <br />consumption and <br />electricity consumption <br />from distribution. For <br />this measure, the City <br />may purchase rain <br />barrels in bulk and <br />resell them at cost to <br />residents. Under SoCal <br />Water Smart, rebates <br />are available for rain <br />barrels to reduce the <br />cost to residents. <br />This calculation is <br />based on 1,000 rain <br />barrels distributed to <br />single family residences annually from 2015 -2020. Initial <br />financing of the purchase of the rain barrels may total <br />$50,000, however all the cost may be recouped through <br />purchases by program participants. <br />75B -72 <br />
