Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to award and execute a contract to <br />Metro Builders & Engineers Group, Ltd., the lowest responsive bidder, in accordance with the <br />bid in the amount of $448,339.60 and the Additive Alternate Two of $20,300, for a contract <br />total of $468,639.60, for the Santa Ana Stadium Structural Concrete Repairs, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and the City Attorney. <br />2. Approve the Project Cost Analysis for a total estimated project delivery cost of $689,300, <br />which includes the contract base bid amount, administration, inspection and testing, and a <br />contractual contingency of $130,992, subject to non - substantive changes approved by the <br />City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Stadium was constructed in 1963. Due to aging and weathering, the concrete <br />structure at various locations has cracked and broken off, exposing the reinforcing steel, and <br />causing it to become corroded. In addition, the protective fencing adjacent to lateral seating <br />areas is damaged and rusted at various sections (Exhibit 1). The recommended actions would <br />support the City's effort to enhance the overall safety of the stadium by repairing the concrete <br />structure and steps, and replacing existing fence with new galvanized steel. <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on November 13 and 18, 2015, and bids were opened on <br />December 1, 2015.
