Housing Discrimination <br />In addition, the Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and later acts <br />and amendments make discriminatory practices in the purchase and <br />rental of most residential units illegal if based on race, color, <br />religion, sex, or national origin. <br />Whenever possible, minority persons shall be given reasonable <br />opportunities to relocate to decent, safe, and sanitary replacement <br />dwellings, not located in an area of minority concentration, and that <br />is within their financial means. This policy, however, does not <br />require the City to provide a larger payment than is necessary to <br />enable a person to relocate to a comparable replacement dwelling. <br />The City's Non - Discrimination Policy ensures that all services and /or <br />benefits will be administered to the general public without regard to <br />race, color, national origin, or sex in compliance with Title VI of the <br />1964 Civil Rights Act (42 USC 2000d. et seq.). <br />By calling 1- 800 - 477 -5977 you may quickly be referred to a local <br />agency in your area to file a housing discrimination complaint. <br />If You Have a Disagreement or Complaint <br />You have the Right to Appeal any decision by the City regarding your <br />relocation benefits and eligibility. <br />Your Right of Appeal is guaranteed in the "Uniform Act" which states <br />that any person may file an appeal with the head of the responsible <br />zs <br />55B -117 <br />
