Section 5 <br />Water Quality Objectives <br />The RWQCB establishes water quality objectives in the Basin Plan to ensure the <br />protection of beneficial uses, including the protection of water quality of the <br />Orange County Groundwater Basin, According to the Basin Plan, no water <br />quality objectives have been established for the Greenville Banning Flood <br />Control Channel and Centennial Lake. The Groundwater Management Plan also describes factors <br />for the OCWD's Board of Directors to consider in making decisions regarding <br />how much pumping the basin can sustain. Specific projects that could be <br />developed as a result of recommendations Would be separately reviewed and <br />approved by the OCWD's Board! of Directors and processed for environmental <br />review prior to project implementation. The Groundwater Management Plan does <br />not commit OCWD to a particular program or level of basin production, but <br />describes the factors that would be considered and key issues as the Board of <br />Directors makes basin management decisions on a regular basis each year. <br />Potential projects that are conceptually described in the Groundwater <br />Management Plan are described in more detail in the OCWD's Long-Term, <br />Facilities Plan. OCWD's goals in managing the Orange County Groundwater <br />Basin are as follows: <br />To protect and enhance the groundwater quality of the Orange County <br />groundwater basin; <br />• To protect and increase the sustainable yield of the basin in a cost <br />effective manner; and <br />n If Project Final EIR 5-107 <br />Mid Basin Centenniial Park <br />
