Section 2 <br />2.3 CEQA Objectives <br />Section 15124 of the CEQA Guidelines requires the Lead Agency to identify <br />project objectives to help identify a reasonable range of alternatives to the project <br />to evaluate in an EIR and to aid decision makers in preparing findings or a <br />statement of overriding considerations iif necessary. Below are the CEQA <br />objectives for the Mid Basin Centennial Park Injection Well Project. <br />• Construct the Mid Basin Centennial Park Injection Well Project in location <br />that can readily tie into the existing GWR System pipeline with minimal <br />adverse impacts to the environment. <br />• Provide 12 MGD of additional groundwater recharge capacity to the <br />Orange County Groundwater Basin, <br />• Maximize the use of GWR System as the local Water Supply to replenish <br />the Orange County Groundwater Basin. <br />• Ensure that the operation of the Mid Basin Centennial Park Injection Well <br />Project does not result in permanent loss of usable open space. <br />• Ensure that during construction and operation of the Mid Basin Centennial <br />Park Injection Well Project potential safety conflicts with students from <br />Godriez, High School, Mitchell Child Development Center and from <br />Centennial Education and Day Care Center are avoided. <br />• Ensure that the construction and operation of the Mid Basin Centennial <br />Park Injection Well Project is compatible with park facilities. <br />Mid Basin Centennial Park 1 "'16' <br />Z 5 -96 Project Final EIR 2-2 <br />
