City of Santa Ana <br />REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS <br />Downtown Mural Project <br />I. Call Summary <br />The City of Santa Ana is seeking qualified artists to create public murals in <br />the City's historic downtown. The City will make available a limited number <br />of parking garage facades for these public murals, in addition to a total <br />project budget of $50,000 which is available to assist with project - related <br />expenses, such as materials, liability insurance, city permits, and artist's fees. <br />The maximum grant amount for an individual project is $25,000. Interested <br />candidates should respond to the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) by June <br />30, 2016, <br />II. Project Description <br />Recognizing the important role that public art plays in promoting urban <br />revitalization, community - building, and a high quality of life, the City of <br />Santa Ana is committed to increasing opportunities for artists to get <br />involved in the continued development of its historic downtown. The <br />Downtown Mural Project ( "Project ") will lead to the creation of murals on <br />public parking garage facades in downtown. The specific locations and <br />designs of individual mural projects will be determined after qualified <br />artists /artist teams are selected. <br />III. Artwork Goals <br />1) Create a sense of place within the downtown <br />2) Contribute to a sense of community within the downtown and the City <br />3) Strengthen Santa Ana's identity as a regional center for the arts <br />IV. Artwork Location Description <br />The City will make available a limited number of parking garage facades <br />for the public murals. Therefore, the murals are limited to the following <br />structures: <br />Public Garage at 3rd and Broadway <br />Public Garage at 5th and French <br />Public Garage at 3rd and Birch <br />Public Garage at 5th and Main <br />2 <br />19F -7 <br />
