Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to award and execute a construction <br />contract to California Professional Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $47,800, for the term <br />beginning upon execution of the contract and ending upon project completion, for Traffic <br />Signal Equipment Replacement Phase II - Bike Trail Traffic Signal Upgrades, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />2. Approve the Project Cost Analysis for a total estimated project delivery cost of $64,530, <br />which includes the contract base amount, administration, inspection, testing, and a $9,560 <br />contingency. <br />DISCUSSION <br />This project consists of traffic signal upgrades along the Maple Bike Trail (Exhibit 1), including <br />new bicycle indicators, replacement of noncompliant vehicle indicators, rewiring of the traffic <br />signals, new bicycle push buttons, and signage. The project is included in the approved Fiscal <br />Year 2015-16 Capital Improvement Program. The recommended award will result in delivering <br />these improvements to enhance safety and promote bicycle and pedestrian use along the bike <br />trails. <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on January 19 and 26, 2016 and bids were opened on <br />February 4, 2016.
