Councilmember Lutz: <br /> • <br /> - reported the recent Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society Home and <br /> Garden Tour to raise funds to meet mortgage obligations for the Dr. Howe- <br /> Waffle House had been well attended and encouraged donations to the mortgage <br /> fund; <br /> - noted the three Santa Ana high schools participating in the art contest <br /> sponsored by Congress Member Loretta Sanchez all had winning entries <br /> and asked that the student artists be recognized at an upcoming Council <br /> meeting; <br /> - requested Ann and Gene Andres be invited to the next Council meeting to <br /> make a presentation on their upcoming "plein air" art exhibit scheduled to <br /> begin July 6; and <br /> - encouraged the Council and audience to attend the Washington Square <br /> Pancake Breakfast scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on June 8 at Hankey's <br /> parking lot, 1120 W. Seventeenth Street. <br /> Councilmember Franklin: <br /> - congratulated Santa Ana Kiwanis and Carl Harvey School on a successful <br /> school carnival; <br /> - requested staff investigate the feasibility of extending swimming pool hours <br /> of operation during very hot weather; <br /> - thanked Councilmember Lutz and those residents whose houses had been <br /> included in the Historic Society's Home Tour for their generosity in opening <br /> their homes to the public; and <br /> - noted several street improvement projects would be implemented on Seventeenth <br /> Street as a result of the budget adoption. <br /> • <br /> Mayor Pulido: <br /> - thanked the Fisher Park Neighborhood Association for donating $500 <br /> toward the purchase of concrete picnic tables for Fisher Park, and the <br /> Northwest•Little League for repairing the concession building roof at Mona <br /> Park; and <br /> - enumerated numerous programs the City conducted in partnership with <br /> the community, state and federal government that had contributed to reducing <br /> Santa Ma's crime rate and expressed his appreciation to all involved. <br /> CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 186 JUNE 2,1997 <br />
