FOR SECURITY GUARD <br />SERVICES AT THE <br />COURTHOUSE /LIBRARY AND <br />SUPERBLOCK PARKING STRUCTURES <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 1, 1C) <br />J <br />—� CITY MANAGERO <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute an amendment to the agreement <br />with G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. to augment existing security services at City Hall /Ross <br />Annex, for the term beginning October 4, 2016, through May 31, 2017, in an additional amount of <br />$173,453.60, for a total amended agreement amount not to exceed $1,014,024.52, subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On May 2, 2011, City Council approved an agreement with G4S Secure Solutions (USA) Inc. <br />(G4S) to provide security guard services at various City facilities. The agreement is currently in <br />its final renewal option period, which is set to expire May 31, 2017. In the next few months, staff <br />will be releasing a Request for Proposals for security guard services that will supersede this <br />agreement. However, at this time, it has been determined there is an immediate need for <br />additional security guard services at City Hall. <br />The existing contract for security services at City Hall provides for one security guard from 6:00 <br />a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additionally, there is a second security guard for the <br />hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for a total of 108 hours per week. The City is seeking to expand <br />the scope of service at City Hall in order to enhance security between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to <br />10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding closed Fridays. This will allow for enhanced <br />security presence along the perimeter of buildings immediately outside of City Hall and will be <br />dedicated to the Courthouse /Library parking structure and Superblock parking structure. Security <br />guards will be available to escort members of the public and government employees to and from <br />City Hall and the parking structures. This will increase the hours of service at City Hall locations <br />from approximately 120 to 320 hours per week. <br />25E -1 <br />
