In this regard, staff requests Council approve the Surplus <br />Allocation -funded project to create fire safety zones at City Hall East Side on Floors 3, 4, 6 and 8 <br />in an amount not to exceed $56,164 inclusive of a $2,675 or five percent contingency. Floors 1, <br />2, 5 and 7 are already fire safety compliant. <br />The project includes the installation of fire -rated doors, closers, walls and other fixtures on the <br />referenced floors. These structures and fixtures will be fire -rated at 60 minutes, which means it <br />will take an hour for a fire to burn through the fire -rated doors. Smoke leakage will be similarly <br />controlled via the fire -rated walls which serve as smoke barriers. Smoke leakage through <br />2513-1 <br />
