Approve the Project Cost Analysis for a total estimated construction delivery cost of <br />$500,811, which includes the construction contract, administration, inspection and testing, <br />and an authorized contingency of $41,735. <br />3. Amend the Fiscal Year 2013-14 Capital Improvement Program and approve the reallocation <br />of $70,811 in Measure M2 Local Fair Share funds from the Traffic Control Devices Inventory <br />Project to the Safe Routes to School Enhancements for Heninger Elementary. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The recommended actions are needed for the City to proceed with the installation of traffic safety <br />enhancements on City streets adjacent to Heninger Elementary School (Exhibit 1). The <br />improvements include a new traffic signal at the intersection of Flower Street and Walnut Street, <br />and bulb -outs at the intersection of Walnut Street and Birch Street. The traffic signal will improve <br />safety and mobility of pedestrians in the area. The bulb -outs will slow down vehicles and narrow <br />the roadway for school children and pedestrians crossing the street. Once completed, the <br />improvements will increase safety, mobility, and ultimately promote walking in the area. <br />2313-1 <br />
