• MOW <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 17, 2017 <br />TITLE: <br />RECEIVE AND FILE REPORT ON WATER <br />AND SEWER PROJECTS <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1G} <br />�I <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />r-AT201-10671wel <br />❑ <br />As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 181 Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2n° Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file this report on various Water and Sewer projects and capital improvements <br />awarded, started, and /or completed during the period of March 1, 2015 through November 30, <br />2016. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On February 7, 2015, City Council approved Resolution 2015 -10, implementing new rates for the <br />City's Water and Sewer enterprise ratepayers. One of the key components of the rate adjustment <br />process for each enterprise was a capital needs assessment consisting of the evaluation and <br />planning for infrastructure replacement and improvement. The results of the assessment were <br />incorporated into the proposed rates. Approved by Council resolution, these rates took effect <br />March 1, 2015. The following items summarize replacement and improvement activity since <br />Council adopted the new rates. <br />1. The City has awarded contracts for various projects: <br />Water Projects Awarded <br />Sewer Projects Awarded <br />$13,298,204 <br />$1,419,274 <br />2. The City has replaced and /or installed the following quantities of water and sewer main pipe: <br />Water Main Replaced /Installed: <br />Sewer Main Replaced /Installed: <br />38,550 Linear Feet <br />5,150 Linear Feet <br />3. In lieu of replacing aging sewer main pipe, the City has relined the following lengths to extend <br />their serviceable life and maintain their performance at reduced cost: <br />19G -1 <br />
