Restructure City Council Committees <br />February 21, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />At the February 7, 2017 City Council Meeting the matter was agendized for discussion and <br />staff direction. Based on the feedback received, staff is recommending the following <br />committees, but subject to change at the request of the City Council. The proposed <br />committees are as follow: <br />• Community Services Committee (and Joint Santa Ana Unified School District and <br />City Council Committee) <br />• Economic Development, Infrastructure and Technology Committee <br />• Legislative Affairs, Ethics and Transparency Committee <br />• Public Safety, Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Empowerment Committee <br />It is also recommended by staff that the standing meetings convene quarterly with the <br />understanding that additional special meetings may be scheduled and authorized pursuant <br />to the Brown Act. <br />Also, Mayor Pulido requested cost associated with staffing committee meetings. The <br />approximate equivalent staff cost per meeting ranges between $1,400 - $2,000 per meeting. <br />These costs include salaried and hourly staff, security guards, and translation services. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement <br />initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an <br />active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Staffing costs associated with said item are included in annual budget. <br />65A-2 <br />
