Any employees of the Contractor who are unnecessarily <br /> noisy or who violate the provisions of the State Motor Vehicle Code or <br /> any applicable city ordinance in the collection of said materials <br /> shall be dismissed upon the demand of the Director of Public Works. <br /> (b) Supervision <br /> Perfatwance of each of the provisions of the contract shall be <br /> under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public Works. <br /> "Director of Public Works" shall mean the Director of Public Works <br /> of the City, or his duly authorized representative. <br /> The Contractor shall furnish the Director of Public Works every <br /> reasonable opportunity for ascertaining whether or not the work is <br /> performed in accordance with the requirements of the contract. The <br /> Contractor shall designate a person to serve as agent and liaison <br /> between his organization and the city and shall maintain a toll-free <br /> telephone. The Director of Public Works may inspect the Contractor' s <br /> operations and equipment at any reasonable time and the Contractor <br /> shall .admit him to make such inspections at any reasonable time and <br /> place. <br /> (c) Definition of Garbage <br /> The word "garbage" is putrescible animal and vegetable waste <br /> resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking and consumption of <br /> food, excluding that produced by canneries, Slaughterhouses, packing <br /> plants or similar industries. - <br /> (d) Definition of Trash <br /> The word "trash" is non-putrescible solid wastes consisting of <br /> both combustible and non-combustible materials, such as paper, cardboard, <br /> tin cans, ashes, yard clippings, wood, glass, crockery, cloth and <br /> similar items of waste from homes, offices and places of business. It <br /> includes normal debris from home and building repair but does not <br /> include waste material from major demolition, construction or remodeling <br /> of buildings. It includes grass clippings and normal home pruning wastes <br /> but does not include sod, dirt in quantity or debris from orchard <br /> pruning or culture. It does not include major wastes resulting from <br /> manufacturing processes. <br /> (e) Definition of Refuse <br /> The word "refuse" shall include all garbage and trash hereinabove <br /> defined. <br /> (f) Preparation of Refuse <br /> • <br /> All refuse shall be placed in containers adequate to eliminate <br /> overflow or contamination of surrounding areas. Refuse placed in <br /> cardboard cartons may be picked up with contents and may be de- <br /> livered to dump or transfer station. All ashes, hair clippings, floor <br /> sweepings and similar light materials shall be securely wrapped in <br /> newspaper or otherwise contained so as not to scatter.
