All collections shall be made as quietly as possible and no <br /> unnecessarily noisy trucks or equipment shall be used. Employees. , <br /> of the Contractor:Alp are unnecessarily noisy or who violate the <br /> Provisions of the State Motor Vehicle Code and/or any applicable <br /> City Ordinance ini the collection of said materials shall be <br /> dismissed upon the demand of the Director of Public Works. <br /> (n) Containers <br /> Containers used in commercial and multiple dwelling areas shall <br /> be of a design and size to contain, at all times, the contents there- <br /> in in such manner as to promote best possible housekeeping conditions. <br /> Maintenance of containers supplied by the Contractor shall, at all <br /> times, be maintained by him in well,-kept appearance and sanitary <br /> condition. The Contractor shall provide washout facilities for <br /> cleaning, disinfecting, and de-odorizing containers on premises.when <br /> necessary. <br /> Residential containers, including the lids thereof, shall be re <br /> placed where found. Containers and lids shall not be left in the <br /> street or on neighboring or adjoining premises. <br /> Garbage containers ca'!l not be thrown from the truck to the <br /> r <br /> pavement or in any c mage..; by rc i handling. <br /> The City reserves the right, UP= submission of proof by the <br /> owner, to withhold sufficient compensation under pna contract to adjust <br /> any claim for refuse containers damaged by the `.._. I:al or careless <br /> acts of the employees of the Contractor. <br /> (o) Fees and Gratuitees <br /> The Contractor shall not, nor shall he peamit any event, employee <br /> or ' sub-contractor employed by him, to request, solicit, demand, or <br /> accp t, ,either directly or indirectly, any compensation or gratuity <br /> for the collection of garbage or rubbish as herein defined, except <br /> such compensation as may be herein provided to be paid by the City, <br /> It is further provided, however, that the Contractor may make avail- <br /> ) able special storage and loading containers, provide additional <br /> collections not required by these specifications, pick up refuse at <br /> N points other than as required in these specifications or provide .Lor <br /> the collection of greater volumes of refuse per collection than re- <br /> quired in these specifications, any or all of these additional services <br /> at the request of tPe irson or business being served. The Contractor <br /> may make a direct charge in. each instance for such additional service <br /> under a written agreement which shall be subject to the approval of - <br /> the Director of Public Works and at such rates as are reasonable, just <br /> and uniform for all persons or businesses being served. All such <br /> direct charges snail be collected by the Contractor. <br /> SECTION 3.
