Adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 16 of the Municipal Code <br /> to allow temporary construction and demolition solid waste to <br /> be collected in roll-off containers or in bins. <br /> 2 . Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the Mayor <br /> and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Ware <br /> Disposal and an agreement and amendment with Great Western <br /> Reclamation for collection and handling of temporary <br /> collection and demolition solid waste through the year 2002 . <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> In 1993 , the City awarded a five year agreement to Great Western <br /> Reclamation to collect and dispose of the City' s solid waste <br /> following a competitive process. That agreement included all solid <br /> waste generated in the City except temporary construction and <br /> demolition solid waste. <br /> At that time, the Council authorized staff to send a five-year <br /> notice to haulers operating in the City indicating the City' s <br /> intentions to limit the number of haulers for the collection and <br /> disposal of temporary construction and demolition solid waste at <br /> the end of the five-year period. <br /> The Council also requested that staff work with the small haulers <br /> to develop a process that would allow small haulers to continue <br /> providing roll-off services in the City. Staff met with the small <br /> haulers and representatives from the Chamber to develop a permit <br /> 14 3 0 <br /> C.S.383 <br />
