(4) Cardboard, paper, magazines, palm fronds, tree limbs, brush, weeds and <br /> similar dry materials must be tied in bundles with a heavy cord or wire strong <br /> enough to act as a handle, or be placed in other acceptable containers. Any <br /> such bundle or items shall not exceed four feet in length, eighteen inches in <br /> thickness, or weigh in excess of 40 pounds; <br /> (5) Oil drums, grease drums and similar metal containers, paper grocery bags, <br /> broken wooden boxes and crates, broken or wet cardboard boxes, and <br /> containers with sharp, rough, or jagged edges which may hamper or injure <br /> the handler, are not acceptable as solid waste containers and will not be picked <br /> up or emptied; <br /> (6) Discarded household items, must be broken down and packaged in a size and <br /> to a weight easily handled by one man; <br /> (7) Large, heavy items not broken down, greater in dimension than four (4) feet in <br /> length and eighteen (18) inches in thickness and 50 pounds, including, without <br /> limitation, water heaters, couches, tables, refrigerators, stoves, and large <br /> pieces of furniture or household equipment shall be considered bulky items <br /> which may be disposed of under the City's Bulky item pickup. <br /> (8) All kitchen waste, ashes, hair clippings, floor sweeping and similar light <br /> materials must be securely wrapped to prevent spillage and to protect the <br /> public health and safety. Hot ashes will not be collected. <br /> The aforementioned size limitations do not apply to Christmas trees properly placed <br /> for collection. <br /> Any small business or professional business receiving curbside collection is subject <br /> to a maximum of 200 pounds per week (including containers). <br /> D.3.7 Standards for Collection Service,Equipment,&Noise <br /> (a) Equipment used by the Contractor for the collection and hauling of solid waste <br /> shall be painted and clean. All collection equipment used must be operated <br /> safely and maintained in good mechanical condition. <br /> (b) It is the declared interest of the City that the Contractor be able to provide a <br /> variety of sizes of bin, including 1 through 4 cubic yard bins, and roll-off box <br /> containers, including 10, 20 and 40 yard roll-off boxes to meet the capacity <br /> requirements of commercial and residential bin and roll-off box users. <br /> (c) No material shall be permitted to leak, fall or be spilled on City streets, alleys <br /> or highways. Any such leakage or spills occurring shall be immediately <br /> corrected and the area cleaned. <br /> (d) All collections shall be made as quietly as possible and no unnecessarily noisy <br /> trucks or equipment shall be used.
