Econumiclmpoct <br />The goal of an economic impact study is to determine the extended "ripple" effects of an <br />institution, organization, or business on its economic environment. Zoo Advisors would <br />conduct this study in two phases: <br />PHASE 1- ORIENTATION <br />Purpose, To discuss and agree on client communications and products, and to gain a deeper <br />understanding of the goals and priorities of this specific analysis. Tasks would Include the <br />following. <br />• On-site meeting and conference calls with the client team and any related <br />stakeholders to discuss the project, goals and objectives, as well as factors upon <br />which to focus in the work program. <br />• Collect prev€ouslycompleted reports, attendance (by type -- like school groups) and <br />member statistics, GIS mapping information, and other data as it pertains to the <br />Proposed analysis, including available tourism market figures, demographics, and <br />economic data. <br />Product: Fuller understanding of project goals, priority issues, responsibilities, and any <br />potential issues that should be addressed or avoided. Elements of the following work plan <br />could be refined or modified at this point to insure the best product. <br />PHASE 2. ECONOMIC AND FISCAL. <br />Impact Study <br />Purpose: To provide an independent evaluation of the economic and fiscal impact of this <br />project. Assessment elements could include; <br />• Direct Benefits and Costs — estimate direct employment, earnings, operational <br />spending, potential property tax and sales tax, and retail sales capture by the <br />development. <br />Multiplier Impacts -- include an msessmentof the multiplier lmpactofthe proposed <br />development, focusing on the re -spending of direct economic activity in the local <br />economy, which will support additional jobs and wages, <br />• Spending by out-of-town visitors to the zoo.. <br />Product; An assessment of the range of fiscal and economic benefits and costs associated <br />with the proposed project, <br />MARKETING PIAN <br />If a full marketing panning project is desired after the strategic plan is completed, Zoo <br />Advisors would conduct the project as follows. <br />PHASE 1: BACKGROUND <br />The purpose of Phase I Is to determine the exact status and trajectory of the Zoo's current <br />marketing initiatives in order to set the stage for new strategies that support the strategic <br />plan's goals. <br />While a large portion of the background work from strategic planning would carry over, we <br />would conduct narrower and more detailed assesment of current and historical marketing <br />plans and activities, as well as the competitive environment in which the Zoo operates. <br />NM <br />EtE 1;1� M <br />Ism <br />a� <br />2049 3444 <br />Sample Client Reven tics vExpertses projections <br />S,AN IA ANA ZOO I iINIA5TER PLAN 2 <br />
