Select a compensation structure for Youth Commission members: <br />Option 1: Compensate regular and alternate members at $50.00 per meeting, and no <br />compensation for associate members. <br />Option 2: Compensate regular members at $50.00, alternate members at $25, and no <br />compensation for associate members. <br />Option 3: Pleasure of the City Council. <br />Place ordinances on first reading and authorize publication of ordinance amending Santa <br />Ana Municipal Code §2-325 relating to compensation for members of the Youth <br />Commission. <br />DISCUSSION <br />One of the City's goals is to be a catalyst for the positive development of young people. To <br />help accomplish this goal, in September of 1999 the City Council established the Youth <br />Commission. The Commission offers the youth of Santa Ana an opportunity to participate in <br />the community's development by making recommendations on issues facing the youth of <br />today. The Youth Commission consists of seven regular members; seven alternate <br />members, ages 14 through 18; and seven associate members, ages of 11 and 13 that are all <br />appointed by the City Council. <br />On August 10, 2009 the City Council adopted an ordinance that set the .compensation of <br />regular members at $25.00 and alternate members at $10.00, per meeting. The City <br />Council has expressed an interest in aligning the compensation for all board and commission <br />50A-1 <br />
