EXHIBIT 1 <br />FISCAL YEAR 2016-17 ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Arts and Culture Commission has diligently worked to support existing, as well as new arts <br />and culture projects over the last year. These important accomplishments exemplify the City's <br />commitment in support of the arts community and enrichment of arts and culture programs for <br />all residents. The Arts and Culture Commission has many accomplishments that have set a <br />pathway for growth and strengthening of future arts and culture programs for the city. <br />ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />ARTS & CULTURE MASTER PLAN <br />• Adopted by the City Council on August 16, 2016 <br />• All items presented to the Arts and Culture Commission now have a Master Plan <br />Alignment, similar to the Strategic Plan Alignment for items presented to the City <br />Council <br />The development of the Master Plan was over a year-long process that involved identifying the <br />most qualified consultant through a rigorous RFP process, active community engagement <br />throughout the phases of the plan's development, and a thorough vetting by residents and <br />community stakeholders. There was a great show of hard work, commitment and collaboration <br />by residents, City leadership, staff, and community stakeholders as evidenced by participation in <br />the many activities in support of the plan's development. A number of one-on-one interviews <br />with leadership and community stakeholders took place. A Steering Committee composed of <br />community stakeholders indifferent disciplines was formed. There was a community survey and <br />numerous targeted discussions in the different art disciplines, two town hall meetings and an <br />arts advocacy meeting all open to the public and highly attended. <br />FULL-TIME POSITION TO SUPPORT ARTS & CULTURE <br />• Created a full-time Arts and Culture Specialist positon to assist with grant writing and <br />project coordination <br />• This position was outlined in the Arts & Culture Master Plan <br />UTILITY CABINET PILOT ART PROJECT- PHASE 3 <br />• 2016-17 was the third year of the Utility Cabinet Pilot Art Project <br />• New to the program this year: utility cabinets were painted by local elementary schools <br />from SAUSD <br />The utility cabinet pilot art project is in its 3rd year. New this year was the expansion of the <br />project to include elementary schools in Santa Ana. Phases 1 and 2 were completed by local <br />artists in previous years. To implement this project the first year with elementary schools, staff <br />19F-3 <br />
