REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: AUGUST 15, 2017 TITLE: APPROVED APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO FISCAL ❑ As Recommended YEAR 2017/18 SEVEN-YEAR CIP TO E] INCLUDE PARK PROJECTS IN THE ElOOrrdinance on ts� Reading El ❑ Ordinance on 2ndReading AMOUNT OF $2 MILLION FROM ❑ Implementing Resolution COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK ❑ Set Public Hearing For GRANT FUNDS {STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 4A} 1NTE50 CITY MANAG RECOMMENDED ACTION CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER Approve an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2017/18 Seven -Year Capital Improvement Program to include the following park projects in the amount of $2,000,000 from Community Development Block Grant funds: • Centennial Park security lighting in the amount of $450,000 • Centennial Park walkway improvements in the amount of $430,000 • Thornton Park parking lot renovation in the amount of $220,000 • Birch Park fence installation in the amount of $120,000- • Santa Ana Senior Center HVAC system upgrade in the amount of $70,000 • Saddleback View Park security lighting in the amount of $200,000 • Madison, Windsor, Jerome, Chepa's, Santa Anita, and Memorial Parks security cameras in the amount of $510,000 YOUTH, EDUCATION, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COUNCIL COMMITTEE On June 24, 2017, the projects proposed for funding by the Bristol sale were presented and discussed at the Youth, Education & Community Services City Council Committee. The committee concurred with moving the projects forward for City Council consideration. A list of each project is included in Exhibit 1. DISCUSSION On October 20, 2015, the City Council authorized the sale of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) real property located at 1232 S Bristol Street in the amount of $2,000,000 for private development. The City received the $2,000,000 from the sale of the property in May 2017, 65A-1
