a h are <br />Y. indeperdent hma hwre chaiw, <br />b) The Emergency Contact Numbers form will be completed and updated as necessary by the <br />Health Services Administrator; <br />c) Use of one (1) or more designated hospital emergency rooms or other appropriate health <br />facilities; <br />d) Emergency on-call physician, dentist and/or mental health staff are available twenty-four (24) <br />hours per day, when the emergency health facility is not located in a nearby community; <br />e) Security procedures will be reviewed to ensure the immediate transfer of patients when <br />appropriate; <br />f) The Health Services Administrator will be notified of all emergency situations; and <br />g) Emergency evacuation of the patient from the SAJ. <br />2) On-site emergency first aid and crisis intervention using emergency medication(s), supplies and <br />medical equipment that are regularly maintained. Monthly inspections will be performed using the <br />Emergency First Aid Kit Monthly Inspection form. <br />Emergency Training for Correctional and Health Staff <br />1) Correctional and healthcare staff will be trained to immediately initiate a response to emergency <br />health-related situations. The training program will be conducted on an annual basis and will be <br />established by NaphCare in cooperation with the SAJ and will include instruction on the following: <br />a) Recognition of signs/symptoms and knowledge of action that is required in potential emergency <br />situations; <br />b) Administration of basic first aid; <br />c) Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the recommendations of <br />the certifying health organization; <br />d) Methods of obtaining assistance; <br />e) Signs and symptoms of mental illness, violent behavior, and acute chemical intoxication and <br />withdrawal; <br />f) Procedures for patient transfers to appropriate medical facilities or health care providers; and <br />g) Suicide intervention. <br />2) Training provided by NaphCare to correctional staff will be documented on the Education Log. <br />C.A.R.E. Ambulance <br />Dedicated to patient care and customer service for over 47 years, C.A.R.E. Ambulance Service provides <br />emergency and non -emergency service to the citizens of Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties. <br />C.A.R.E. Ambulance Service provides integrated, high-quality, BLS, ALS services, and is at the forefront <br />of EMS transportation. NaphCare will continue to coordinate emergent transportation services with <br />C.A.R.E. Ambulance to meet the needs of the Santa Ana Jail. <br />7. Chronic Illness/Infectious Disease Protocols <br />a. NaphCare has established and will continue to implement policy and procedures for the care <br />and handling of inmates diagnosed with chronic illness/disease and for inmates diagnosed with <br />an infectious disease subject to the approval of the Jail Administrator. <br />b.
