(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 4, 1) RECOMMENDED ACTION CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: APPROVED ❑ As Recommended ❑ As Amended ❑ Ordinance on 1s` Reading ❑ Ordinance on 2n° Reading ❑ Implementing Resolution ❑ Set Public Hearing For CONTINUED TO FILE NUMBER Approve an additional 30 days to conclude the Solid Waste Agreement negotiation with solid waste services contractor "USA Waste of California, Inc." (dba Waste Management of Orange County). DISCUSSION At the June 20, 2017, City Council Meeting, Council directed staff to start exploring an extension of the solid waste services contract with USA Waste of California, Inc., (dba Waste Management of Orange County), the current service provider. The approved amended motion expanded the scope of the proposed 90 -day negotiation period to include a possible one -to -multiple -year extension alternative. In the ensuing 90 days, both parties have made considerable strides toward completing this process. First, a nondisclosure agreement was executed in furtherance of the continuing negotiations and to facilitate the exchange of confidential and proprietary information. Subsequently, the Amended and Restated Solid Waste Agreement was also executed by all parties.
