Approval of an Additional 30 Days to Conclude the Negotiation with USA Waste of California, Inc. <br />September 19, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />All community feedback and comments have been considered in the development of the City's <br />Solid Waste Program Scope of Work, for inclusion in the possible extension or any new solid <br />waste services agreement. <br />Staff and Waste Management of Orange County continue to work diligently to compile and <br />analyze agreement components. Still to be finalized are new recycling programs, including State <br />requirements for organics (Assembly Bill 1826) and commercial/multi-family (Assembly Bill 341) <br />recycling. Staff is requesting an additional 30 days to conclude the negotiation process, to <br />ensure that all options are thoroughly reviewed for Council consideration on October 17, 2017. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #4 — City Financial Stability, <br />Objective #1 (maintain a stable, efficient and transparent financial environment). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action <br />Exedbtive Director <br />Public Works Agency <br />FM/MLM <br />65B-2 <br />
