COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Hardy: <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />• Congratulated property owners. <br />Commissioner Garcia: <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />Commissioner Hitterdale: <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />Commissioner Rush: <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen and hopes he finds it fulfilling. <br />• Encouraged staff to work on the fee study and offered to have Krista Nichols, <br />Executive Director for Preserve Orange County, contact staff and provide research on <br />what other cities are charging for Mills Act agreements. <br />• Requested the historic preservation awards be reinstated. <br />• Requested staff look at the issue of the Commission having expanded authority. <br />• Requested a status of Ms. Soboleske's replacement. Mr. Carvajal noted the position in <br />the comprehensive planning section has been posted and hope to fill position as soon <br />as possible. <br />• Invited all to attend the inaugural Preserve Orange County gala to be held on <br />November 3, 5:30 p.m. at the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University <br />which will include a reception and is free to attendees. <br />Commissioner Murashie: <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />• Congratulated homeowners. <br />• Thanked staff for updating properties on the register and placing on the website. <br />• Noted he began visiting various cities to meet with their historical preservationists and <br />get their point of view; noted they meet quarterly and share information via e-mail; <br />hopeful can figure out how to improve city's system and lower fees. <br />Vice Chair Schaefer: <br />• Congratulated homeowners noting two homes are located in Park Santiago, one in <br />Floral Park and one in Jack Fisher Park and not only in Floral Park. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />Chairperson Christy: <br />• Thanked homeowners for coming out and investing in their homes. <br />• Welcomed Commissioner Nguyen. <br />ADJOURNED 5:43 P.M. — The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Historic Resources <br />Commission is scheduled for Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in the <br />Council Chamber, 22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, California. <br />l9�G� <br />Rosa Barela <br />Acting Recording Secretary <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION MINUTES 6 SEPTEMBER 28, 2017 <br />
