HUIZAR, Clerk of the Council <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />• Irma Jauregui, spoke on behalf of Wilshire Square Neighborhood Association, opposed to <br />total contract amount for incoming City Manager which is higher than U.S. President. <br />• Debbie McEwen, noted that candidate is fine fellow that worked here before, Santa Ana is <br />giant and complicated and deserves most talented and experienced and scope that we <br />can possibly hire; search was small and group was minimal; deserve broader base of <br />candidates. <br />• Lisa Mills, executive recruiter for national firm; suggest that recruiter go back; unanimous <br />vote needed; no qualified candidate should be accepted with split vote; benefit package <br />includes evergreen; most money than any other in state of California; candidate is <br />likeable; handed 205 signed petition in opposition to hire for City Council consideration. <br />• Mohammed Aly, speaking on litigation with catholic worker; proposed ordinance is tied to <br />item on the agenda; deemed unconstitutional violations suspected; met with advocates <br />have meet with City Attorney and staff; discussed point by point and questioned <br />constitutionality of each; reiterated importance of free speech with unbridle relations to <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 1 OCTOBER 17, 2017 <br />10A-1 <br />
