Description; (Describe resource and its major elements; Include design, materials, condition, alterations, size, setting, and boundaries.)
The Travis House is designed in the Spanish "Eclectic" Revival style of architecture. The structure is sheathed in stucco and
has a predominantly flat roof with tile material around the perimeter of the home's roo8ine. The front fagade also possesses a
small gable and shed style roof design incorporated Into the kitchen area of the house and the front porch. Overall the home
is fairly symmetrical In shape, and though it does not follow the assymmetrical shapes of the traditional spanish revival style
of architecture, it does have a rectangular massing that extends through most of the front of the property. As mentioned, the
roof is traditional to the spanish revival style of architecture, however, providing a gable and shed style roof at the front makes
this home a unique example of the Spanish "Eclectic" Revival style of architecture. The Travis house also has a unique front
porch entrance to the home. The traditional arched entry is elongated to a rectangular shape with rounded edges. The porch is
also covered in an ornate Spanish -style painted tile with a two-step landing leading towards the front door. The windows at the
front elevation are a mixture of wood casement and fixed sash windows. The remaining windows throughout the home include
single hung sash windows with lambs tongue features. A detached garage similar to the traditional Spanish style of
architecture sits to the rear of the lot, accessed through the drive way which also provides an arched entry. The arched entry
at the driveway is designed to illustrate the grandeur of the Spanish "Eclectic" Revival style of architecture. Landscaping
throughout the house is comprised of mature palm trees and drought tolerant plants embedded in planters which
appropriately accent the materials used throughout the house; such as the use of red bricks in the design of the walkway and
driveway.
*P3b.
