Orozco, Norma <br />From: <br />Mike Tardif < <br />Sent: <br />Monday, March 12, 2018 10:01 AM <br />To: <br />eComment <br />Cc: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Subject: <br />RE: City Council meeting Monday - "by district" election on June ballot <br />To: Santa Ana Mayor Pulido and City Council: <br />I strongly disagree with this attempt to force an unnecessary and rushed June Special Election ballot vote to <br />consider "by district" Ward elections. <br />Thus far there has been NO PUBLIC INPUT on the issue of putting this on the ballot and according to Council <br />Members Villegas & Martinez there are several different ways to accomplish by -district elections. <br />Other cities have considered "by district" elections - but with SIGNIFICANT public input before it goes on the <br />ballot. <br />There is no reason that this issue could not have been brought up at any time prior to this last minute <br />and hush-hush rushed Council vote. <br />Especially after the June 2017 letter received from the SA Asian community which brought the issue to the <br />City's attention. <br />The actions of the 4 Council Members (Solorio, Tinajero, [David Benavides & Sarmiento) who are pushing <br />this precipitous ballot vote, by their actions, bring into question the ethics of their methods. <br />And certainly bring into consideration a grievous violation of the spirit, if not the letter, of Santa Ana's <br />Sunshine Ordinance. <br />Please allow for proper public input before putting this issue on the ballot and vote NO on Agenda Item <br />65 A. <br />
