CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 2018-01 TO ALLOW THE OPERATION OF A K-12 <br />CHARTER SCHOOL (CITRUS SPRINGS) LOCATED AT 2121 NORTH GRAND <br />AVENUE. <br /> <br />Legal notice published in the Orange County Reporter on March 2, 2018 and notices <br />mailed on March 2, 2018. <br /> <br />Case Planner Orozco provided a presentation which included a description of the project, <br />project background and project analysis. Discussion ensued regarding the curriculum <br />offered, number of students, recruitment, staff retention and turnover, timeline of the prior <br />Conditional Use Permit, and traffic. <br /> <br />Chairman McLoughlin opened the Public Hearing. The following spoke on the matter: <br /> <br />• Alfonso Alvarez spoke in opposition. <br />• Marla Martindale spoke in support. <br />• Monica Lopez spoke in support. <br />• Sofia Hernandez spoke in opposition. <br /> <br />There were no other speakers and the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />Concern was expressed with the curriculum offered and it was generally agreed that the <br />increase in traffic related to the increase of students would not be in the best interest of the <br />community. The need to focus on the land use issues related to the request was also <br />discussed. <br /> <br />MOTION: Adopt a resolution to deny approve Conditional Use Permit No. 2018- <br />01. <br /> <br />MOTION: McLoughlin SECOND: Contreras-Leo <br />VOTE: AYES: Bacerra, McLoughlin, Mendoza, Verino (4) <br />Contreras-Leo, Nguyen (2) <br /> NOES: Contreras-Leo, Nguyen (2) <br />Bacerra, McLoughlin, Mendoza, Verino (4)
