Mitre -Ramirez, Norma
From:
Dana Roberts <
Sent:
Monday, April 2, 2018 9:59 AM
To:
doc-chambers@cacd.uscourts.gov
Cc:
andrew.do@ocgov.com; audra.fishel@ocgov.com; michelle.steel@ocgov.com;
lisa.bartlett@ocgov.com; todd.spitzer@ocgov.com; eComment; Solorio, Jose; Pulido,
Miguel; Dana Roberts
Subject:
Urgent Plea on the Homeless In OC
Categories: Correspondence
To the Honorable Judge David O. Carter and other OC Leaders,
I am a resident of Santa Ana and I am outraged that the other cities in our great county are refusing to assist in the homeless
crisis. Like Irvine, LN, HB, CM and every other city, our children deserve a safe walk to school. We deserve clean parks and
public areas, we deserve the same consideration for how the homeless population affects our day to day lives. Once city should
not carry the burden of an entire County.
COSTA MESA HAS A FACILITY WITH AVAILABLE BEDS READY FOR OCCUPANCY. THIS IS A REASONABLE
TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO HOUSE SOME OF THE HOMELESS THAT WANTS HELP UNTIL A PERMANENT
SOLUTION IS AVAILABLE. According to the news reports, there are hundreds and hundreds of empty beds. As we know
many do not want help, or to follow or conform to laws & rules of society. They prefer to do drugs and live on the
streets. This problem is a virus that was ignored for too long and was allowed to mutate at the Civic Center and the
riverbeds. Instead of dealing with the first few, the city and county are now spending MILLIONS of dollars to correct a
problem that should have been addressed years ago. Many of these people (the repeat drug offenders and criminals) are better
off in Jail than our streets but politicians, like Jerry Brown, care more about emptying our jails than keeping law -biding
citizens safe.
I have observed (& experienced) the homeless population grow and crime rise in Santa Ana since the passing of AB 109, Prop
47 and Prop 57. It is time to take back our city and our state!
Please represent me and the thousands of other tax paving, voting and law-abiding citizens in Santa Ana by showing
your support in this matter.
Thank you,
Dana Roberts
Resident since 2005
