Orozco, Norma
From: Houston, Nicole
Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2018 12:12 PM
To: Alcala, Abigail; Huizar, Maria; Mitre -Ramirez, Norma; Orozco, Norma; Rojano, Michael
Subject: FW: Homeless situation in Orange County
From: Juan Orozco [mailto:
Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2018 7:49 PM
To: Pulido, Miguel <MPulido@santa-ana.org>
Subject: Homeless situation in Orange County
Hello Mayor Pulido,
I am John Orozco and I have lived in Santa Ana for all of my forty-seven year of life. I am honest about
Santa Ana, there are some neighborhoods that I don't visit but also I know that there are some great people in
this city. I also am aware of Santa Ana's role as the Seat of Orange County. I know that you have served as
Mayor of this great city since 1994 and I appreciate the work you have done but now it is time to do more.
Recently the problem for the county has been the homeless population. Santa Ana knows about this problem
because she has been dealing with this problem for a long time. You as her mayor need to fix this situation. You
need to make sure that Santa Ana is not the only one to be burdened with taking care of the homeless situation.
You need to work on this none stop and you need to get a solution that finally benefits Santa Ana. You can not
give in to other cities in this county that will take any measures they can to skirt their physical part in this
situation while claiming that it is unconscionable what is happening with regards to the homeless population of
Orange County.
I don't see this as a hard situation. There is a perfectly good piece of government land in Irvine that has been
zoned for use as a Homeless Shelter and is 108 acres of flat land. This is the area that the Board of Supervisor
had voted to use but then changed their minds on because the people of Irvine and other areas mobilized and
created a change of heart in these Board members. This is the area next to the so called Great Park (another
embarrassment for this county). This area can start of a tent city and then permanent housing can be made to
accommodate the homeless. This would be a great location because there is a food bank near by. The county
should clean this place out and then work together as a county to make it safe for both residence and those down
on their luck.
You have a bad situation near your public library with all the homeless that reside there. You have a bad
situation near your schools with all the homeless that reside there. You have a bad situation near your parks
with all the homeless that reside there. You have a bad situation with all the homeless that reside in Santa Ana.
You as the Mayor need to be helpful to all other residents of Orange County but your first priority is Santa Ana
and you should put her first. You should also expect all the residents of Santa Ana to HELP you in this cause.
Please let me know how I can help.
I recently saw a clip of the mayor of Irvine say that he did not want the situation that is happening at Plaza of
the Flags to happen in Irvine, he is correct, YOU AS MAYOR SHOULD MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT
HAPPEN IN SANTA ANA.
