ORDINANCE NS-814 AMENDING PART 3, CHAPTER 3, <br />OF ARTICLE VI OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />REGULATING POOL AND BILLIARD HALLS <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Part 3, Chapter 3, of Article VI of the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Part 3 - Pool and Billiard Halls <br /> <br />SECTION 6330. Application for Permit. <br /> Any person desiring to engage in any business where games of <br />billiards or pool are conducted for profit shall first make <br />application in writing to the Council. The Council shall have <br />full power to grant or deny said permit and, after investigation, <br />if it shall appear to the Council that said person is a proper <br />and suitable person and the location and arrangement of the <br />proposed place where said business is to be conducted is satis- <br />factory, the Council shall grant said permit, subject to all <br />applicable provisions of this Code; otherwise, it shall deny <br />the same. <br /> <br />SECTION 6331. Right to Control. <br /> <br /> The Council, in granting a permit or license for the carrying <br />on of said business, reserves the right at all times to determine <br />where said games may or shall be carried on, including the <br />character and nature of the building, its surroundings, arrange- <br />ment, construction, accessibility, and suitability for the purpose <br />of conducting said business. The character, reputation and <br />reliability of the person conducting said business and of his <br />employees shall be considered. <br /> <br />SECTION 6332. Entrance Open. <br /> The entrance to every place or room where games of billiards <br />or pool are conducted for profit shall be open and unobstructed <br />to all peace officers, firemen, City inspectors, and adults at <br />all times when such games are so carried on. <br /> <br />SECTION 6333. Certain Games Prohibited. <br /> No games of cards, dice, or other games of chance shall be <br />carried on in any room in which any of the above businesses shall <br />be conducted or in any room accessible therefrom. <br /> <br />SECTION 6334. When Minor May Enter. <br /> When any room or place is maintained where games of billiards <br />or pool are conducted for profit, which said room or place is a <br />part and portion of a business affording amusement or recreation <br />games for which a fee is charged, and which said room or place <br />occupies not more than 6~ of the total floor space devoted to <br />such games, and which business primarily provides for family <br />recrea~on and amusement which is regularly used by husbands, <br />wives, and children, minors under the age of 18 years may be <br />permitted to enter the room or area where billiards and pool are <br />offered to the public and may be permitted to play at said games. <br /> <br /> Provided, however, that no minor under the age of 18 years <br />shall be permitted to enter the room or place where billiards or <br />pool are so conducted after the hour of 10:00 P.M. of any day, and <br />the owner, operator, or any person in charge of any such room or <br />place shall not permit any minor under the age of 18 years to <br />remain therein after the hour of 10:00 P.M. of any day. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
