NS-1414 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMEND- <br />ING SECTIONS 8-290, 8-309, 8-311, AND 8-312 <br />OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE AND REPEALING <br />SECTIONS 8-313, 8-314, 8-315, 8-316 AND 8-370 <br />THEREOF TO ADOPT THE UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, <br />1976 EDITION <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That section 8-290 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-290. Adoption by reference. <br /> <br />There is adopted by the City that certain Code known as <br />the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical <br />Officials Uniform Plumbing Code, 1976 Edition, and the <br />whole thereof including the appendices thereto save and <br />except that portion entitled "Part 1, Administration" <br />and such other portions as are deleted by the amendments <br />set forth in this article of which said Code not less <br />than three (3) copies have been and are on file in the <br />Office of the Clerk of the Council of the City. The <br />said Code is adopted and incorporated as fully as if <br />set forth at length herein as provided for in Section <br />419 of the Charter of the City, and, subject to all <br />amendments set forth in this article, shall be in <br />effect within the City of Santa Ana from the effective <br />date of this ordinance. Any provision of this article <br />amending the "Plumbing Code" or "Uniform Plumbing Code" <br />shall be construed as amending the said adopted Code, <br />1976 Edition, including such provisions enacted prior <br />to the enactment of this ordinance and not thereafter <br />repealed. The said adopted Code, 1976 Edition, as thus <br />amended, together with all other provisions of this <br />article, shall be known as the Plumbing Code of the <br />City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That section 8-309 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-309. Work not requiring a permit. <br /> <br />No permit shall be required in the case of any repair <br />work as follows: The stopping of leaks in drains, <br />soil, waste, or vent pipe, provided, however, that <br />should any trap, drainpipe, soil, waste or vent pipe be <br />or become defective and it becomes necessary to remove <br />and replace the same with new material in any part or <br />parts, the same shall be considered as such new work <br />and a permit shall be procured and inspection made as <br />hereinbefore provided. No permit shall be required for <br />the clearing of stoppages or the repairing of leaks in <br />pipes, valves or fixtures, when such repairs do not <br />involve or require the replacement or rearrangement of <br />valves, pipes or fixtures. <br /> <br />When intercepter traps or house trailer site traps are <br />installed at the same time as a building sewer on any <br />lot, no sewer permit shall be required for the connec- <br />tion of any such trap to an appropriate inlet fitting <br />provided in the building sewer by the permittee con- <br />structing such sewer. <br /> <br />When a permit has been obtained to connect an existing <br />building or existing work to the public sewer or to <br />connect to a new private disposal facility, backfilling <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
