MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />June 29, 1972 <br /> <br />An Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Santa Aha was <br />convened at ?:20 P.M., in the Mayor's Office, City Hall, 217 North Main Street, <br />proper Notice and Posting having been accomplished, with affidavits on file with <br />the Clerk of the Council. The,following Councilmen were present: Vernon S. <br />Evans, Wade Herrin, Harry K. Yamamoto, SerryMo Patterson, J~.Ogden <br />Markel and Mayor Lorin Griset. Councilman Ray Villa was absent. Also present <br />were Acting City Manager Bruce Co Spragg, City Attorney James A. Withers, <br />Assistant to the Manager Go David Tayco, Clerk of the Council Florence I. <br />Malone, amd representatives of the Press and Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />1972-1973 BUDGET The Acting City Manager stated <br /> that the proposed Budget is in <br /> balance but that there are a <br />number of unfunded critically needed items; and that the Manager's Budget <br />Message indicates a carry-over from the 1971-1972 Budget of approximately <br />$800, 000; that the Finance Director's latest estimates are that there will be <br />approximately $270,000 more than originally anticipated. He reminded Council <br />that the proposed Budget would be amended to include $52, ?50 representing 50 <br />percent of the outstanding amounts of street reimbursements reported and <br />authorized for payment by Council on June 26, 1972, and $Z0,000 representing <br />an incremental payment for the purchase of park land .at 7th & Harper Street. <br />He reported that no tax increase has been proposed and the tax rate will <br />remain at $1.35 per $100 assessed valuation; that the assessed valuation of the <br />City is not known and the earliest expected release of that information for fiscal <br />year 1972-73 is July 5. <br /> <br />He pointed out that the City's operating costs were lower than other cities of <br />the same size because Santa Aha employs three employees less per thousand <br />population. <br /> <br />Council discussed the policy of assigning City vehicles. The consensus was thatpoolin <br />vehicles would be more readily accomplished when all City departments are <br />located in the new City Hall. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Evans, seconded by Councilman Herrin to discontinue <br />publication of the "Santa Aha Newstory".
