n <br />U <br />RESOLUTION NO.2007-16 <br />KO-5/25/07 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1123 WEST THIRD STREET <br />(HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2007-02) <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The applicant is requesting approval of Historic Exterior Modification <br />Application No. 2007-02 to construct a 687 square foot addition to the rear <br />of this existing historic residence, and to demolish the non-historic, <br />substandard-sized garage, and build a 400 square foot (two-car) garage in <br /> matching architectural style and materials at the property located at 1123 <br />• West Third Street. <br />B. This residential structure is historically known as the Steussy House and <br /> was built circa 1928 and was placed on the Santa Ana Register of <br /> Historical Properties in October 2006 and categorized as Contributive. <br />C. The proposed modifications to the exterior of the structure will not be <br /> readily visible from the right-of-way, and are designed to be architecturally <br /> compatible while extending the life of the house for modern residential <br /> purposes. <br />D. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code section 30-6, the Historic <br /> Resources Commission reviewed the application for approval of exterior <br /> modifications for the historic Steussy House (Historic Exterior Modification <br /> Application No. 2007-02). <br />E. Since the property is listed on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br /> Properties, all exterior modifications are required to meet the Secretary of <br /> the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. <br /> 1. The project meets these standards in that any structural repairs <br /> deemed necessary will be undertaken in the most sensitive way, so <br /> as to cause the least damage to surrounding historic materials <br /> thereby meeting Standard Number Seven. <br />r1 <br />LJ <br />Resolution No. 2007-16 <br />Page t of 3 <br />
