LS 4.24.17 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017-17 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING CONDITIONAL <br />USE PERMIT NO. 2017-14 AS CONDITIONED TO ALLOW <br />A HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS HOTEL AT THE PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 1600 EAST FIRST STREET <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. Applicant is requesting approval of Conditional Use Permit No. 2017-14 to <br />allow a hotel in the General Commercial (C-2) zoning district at the <br />property located at 1600 East First Street. <br />B. Santa Ana Municipal Code Sections 41-365.5(c) and 41-377.5(a) require <br />approval of a conditional use permit to allow a hotel in the C-2 (General <br />Commercial) zoning district. <br />C. On April 24, 2017, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed public <br />hearing on Conditional Use Permit No. 2017-14. <br />D. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana determines that the <br />following findings, which must be established in order to grant this <br />Conditional Use Permit pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code (SAMC) <br />pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 41-638, have been <br />established for Conditional Use Permit No. 2017-14 to warrant approval <br />of the conditional use permit to allow a hotel: <br />1. That the proposed use will provide a service or facility which will <br />contribute to the general well-being of the neighborhood or <br />community. <br />The proposed Holiday Inn Express Hotel will provide a <br />service to the community by providing an upper-midscale <br />lodging option. The proposed Holiday Inn Express Hotel is <br />a use that is supportive to the primary commercial uses in <br />the area. The use will provide lodging opportunities to <br />those working and living in the immediate area and will <br />provide employment opportunities to residents that live in <br />the city. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel will provide a <br />Resolution No. 2017-17 <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
