REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 16, 2018 <br />TITLE: <br />AWARD CONTRACT TO KLASSIC <br />ENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION, INC., <br />FOR SARTC RESTROOM RENOVATION <br />(PROJECT NO. 15-7538) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6, 1G) <br />Cltt,YANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on I" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to Klassic Engineering & Construction, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, <br />in accordance with the base bid plus Additive Alternates 1 and 2 in the total amount of <br />$296,735, for the term beginning upon execution of the contract and ending upon project <br />completion, for the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center Restroom Renovation project, <br />and authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the contract subject to <br />nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and the City Attomey. <br />2. Approve the Project Cost Analysis for <br />$370,919, which includes the contract <br />administration, inspection and testing, and <br />DISCUSSION <br />a total estimated construction delivery cost of <br />base bid plus Additive Alternates 1 and 2, <br />an authorized contingency of $29,674. <br />The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) Restroom Renovation (Exhibit 1) will <br />upgrade the ground level restrooms to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act <br />of 1990 (ADA), including Federal 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design as provided for in <br />the City's building code. The proposed improvements include new plumbing fixtures, partitions, <br />accessories, lighting, automated doors, floor/wall/ceiling finishes, signage, and drinking fountains. <br />A Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on October 18 and 25, 2017, and bids were opened <br />November 15, 2017.
