Project No. D-3885-06
Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish
Non-building areas such as asphalt concrete or concrete driveways, hardscape areas and
walk-ways should be excavated to minimum 18 inches below finish subgrade and
compacted to 90 percent relative compaction in accordance with ASTM D-1557.
Relative compaction of all fill materials placed on site should be tested in accordance
with ASTM D-1557.
All new filt shall be brought to near optimum moisture, placed in layers not exceeding six
inches in thickness, and compacted to at least 90 percent relative compaction for subgrade
and 95 percent relative compaction for aggregate base. No jetting or water tamping of fill
soils shall be permitted.
Imported soil or for subgrade under asphalt concrete and all exterior concrete, shall
consist of clean, granular, non-expansive soil, free of vegetation and other debris with an
Expansion Index of 20 or less. No soil or aggregate base shall be imported to the site
without prior approval by the Geotechnical Engineer.
No excavation shall be performed and no fill shall be placed, spread or rolled during
unfavorable weather. When work is interrupted by rain, operations shall not be resumed
until the Geotechnical Engineer indicates that conditions wilI permit satisfactory results.
Construction Verification Procedures
Over-excavation, placement of engineered fill, stego wrap, gravel layer, footing
inspection should be done under the observation and documentation ofa representative of
the project Geotechnical Engineer. This would help veriff relative compaction levels and
compliance with the controlling agencies and also to our geotechnical engineering report.
Geotechnical Engineer means a representative of the consultant company of record,
including but not limited to the licensed geotechnical engineer, certified engineering
geologist, and field technician supervised by and reporting to licensed professionals, as
applicable to items to be verified.
37
