Pre-Grading Meeting: <br />A pre-grading meeting shall be held prior to the start of any grading and construction <br />activities. Attendees of this meeting should include the Owner, the Architect, the <br />Geotechnical Engineer, the Contractor and the City Building Department field <br />representative, to review procedures and scheduling. <br />Earthwork 0bservations: <br />At all times, the contractor should have a responsible field superintendent on the project <br />in full charge of the work, with authority to make decisions. He shall cooperate fully with <br />the Geotechnical Engineer in carrying out the work. <br />All footing trenches for spread footings (secondary structures) and subgrade for the slab <br />areas should be observed by the project Geotechnical Engineer to verifu that over- <br />excavation and re-compaction operations of adequate depth, thickness, and compaction <br />have been performed as specified. All footing excavations should be trimmed neat, level <br />and square. All loose, sloughed or moisture softened soil should be removed and replaced <br />with properly compacted soil. <br />38 <br />Project No. D-3885-06 <br />Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish <br />The following are noted as items requiring verification during construction. <br />Relative compaction of all fill materials placed on site should be tested in accordance <br />with ASTM D1557. All new fill shall be brought to near optimum moisture, placed in <br />layers not exceeding six inches in thickness, and compacted to at least 90 percent relative <br />compaction for subgrade and 95 percent relative compaction for aggregate base. No <br />jetting or water tamping of fill soils shall be permitted.
