8 t-502 JUN 29 <br />APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE TO THE I.IUSEUI4 <br />The building has a rating classification lll according to the Ordinance on <br />the basis that exterior walls are braced by cross walls less than 40 feet <br />apart in each story. <br />We find that the building does not comply with the ordinance in the fol lowing <br />respects: <br />l./a I ls having unsupported height or length ratios (H/T) <br />exceeding 10. and in which tension stresses would occur <br />under normal-to-plane seismic loading are at the <br />fol lowing locations. (Room numbers and names are as <br />assigned on the archi tectural plans. ) <br />north, east and west wa I ls.a. Room <br />b. Room <br />o <br />c. All second stor brick wal ls except the north <br />, the north wall of the balcony/ <br />south and west walls, and the portion <br />th e east wa ll that is common with entry room <br />wal I of room <br />vestibule, and <br />cor r i dor. <br />he north and south walls of the <br />2. lnadequately braced parts of the building are: <br />a Unbr <br />room <br />ac parapets around perimeter of the entry <br />The ch imney. <br />A "flying buttressrr h,est of the chimney. <br />The l4 feet high freestanding wall north of <br />the exter ior s ta i rway. <br />Roofs that tend to brace walls or parts of the building but <br />which are inadequately anchored to them and do not have <br />shear nor chord tension capacity to resist the appl ied <br />forces if they were anchored are at the following locations: <br />a.Over room (entry). This roof is constructed <br />of Ce I otex ah d floor tile on wood stripping, <br />Over the balcony (presently office space).
