Project No. VP-6214-01
Verizon Wireless — Fisher Floral
Plotted test result is presented on Plate K.
E. Expansion Index (ASTM D-4829)
CITY OF SANTA ANA
Planning and Building Agency
may, lS.
Approved
FOR PERMIT ISSUANCE
Master ID:
Date:
Expansion characteristics were determined by the Expansion Index test of a
sample considered to be representative of the near subgrade soils. Test results are as
follows:
Boring No.
Depth (ft)
Moisture
Dry Density
Expansion
Content (%)
(pcf)
Index
B-1
0-3
11.0
106.0
10
The soil underneath the project site is classified as non -expansive (EI < 20).
F. Chemical Analysis (CAL 417-A)
Chemical sulfate analysis was performed on a representative sample by the CAL 417-A
method. A soluble sulfate of 380 parts per million was indicated, which is negligible,
however we recommend using Type II Portland cement for the foundation elements in
contact with the underlying soil.
Concrete
Concrete for foundation where in contact with the underlying soils should be designed in
accordance with the 2022 CBC, ACI 318 Section 4.3, Table 4.3.1.
Although the potential for sulfate attack on concrete appears negligible, we recommend
that the use of type II cement with concrete strength of 4,000 psi and maximum water
cement ratio of 0.50 for the foundation elements in contact with the soil.
Other seismic parameters are as follows:
Soil Class
Closest Fault Distance
Fault
Class D
5.59 miles (8.9 kin)
San Joaquin Hills Fault
7
