Geotechnical Investigation Report 03/11/2025
2234 S Lowell St., Santa Ana, CA 92707 Page | 6

SEISMIC DESIGN INFORMATION
Earthquake Response Spectral Parameters

ASCE Hazard Tool (ASCE/SEI 7-16) was used to provide the maximum earthquake design
parameters for the project site (Latitude 33.716704°, Longitude -117.879032°) as listed in Table-
2.

Table 2– Maximum Considered Earthquake Response Spectral Parameters
PGAm SS S1 SMS SM1 SDS SD1
0.656 1.285 0.46 1.542 N/A 1.028 N/A
Appendix II presents the site’s seismic report.
SITE SOIL PROFILE
According to the California Building Code, the site’s soil profile type is classified as class D.
LIQUEFACTION
Based on the CGS Earthquake Zones of Required Investigation Map, all or portion of this parcel
lies within a liquefaction zone. A significant seismic event may trigger a liquefaction hazard in
loose and medium dense cohesionless soils located under groundwater level. Since the depth
of groundwater at this site exceeds 50 feet (the limit for liquefaction effect), even if there are
loose or medium dense cohesionless soils below the depth of 50 feet, the liquefaction hazard
doesn’t propagate to the ground surface and there will be no impact on the structures.
SURFACE FAULT RUPTURE
The project site is not located within an Alquist-Priolo earthquake fault zone as established by
the California Geologic Survey, nor is it located within 1000 feet from any Holocene or younger
aged faults. Therefore, this site is not susceptible to surface fault rupture hazard, refer to Figure-
4.
