CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />125 <br />5.02.08 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Prior to excavation for planting or placing of stakes, locate utilities, electric cables, <br />conduits, sprinkler lines, heads, valves, and valve control wires so that proper <br />precautions may be taken not to damage such improvements. In the event of a <br />conflict between such lines and plant locations, promptly notify the Engineer to <br />arrange for relocation of one or the other. Failure to follow this procedure places the <br />responsibility on the Contractor for making repairs at his expense for damages <br />resulting from Work hereunder. <br />B. Notify Engineer in writing of soil or drainage conditions encountered during planting <br />operations which are detrimental to growth of plant material. <br />5.02.09 WARRANTY <br />A. PLANT MATERIAL <br />1. Trees furnished or relocated under this Section shall be warranted in writing for a <br />period of 3 years from the date of final acceptance against improper installation <br />and against defective, unsound, or diseased conditions that may appear. <br />2. All other plant materials furnished or relocated under this Section shall be <br />warranted in writing for a period of 1 year from the date of final acceptance <br />against improper installation and against defective, unsound, or diseased <br />conditions that may appear. <br />3. Plant material shall be guaranteed to live and grow in a healthy condition for the <br />above periods, commencing with the acceptance of the work at the conclusion of <br />the maintenance period. Dead or obviously unhealthy materials shall be replaced <br />without delay. The opinion of the Engineer will be final in determining plant <br />material to be replaced due to an unhealthy condition. <br />4. Upon receipt of written notice from Owner of the death of any warranted plant <br />material during the warranty period, subject plant materials shall be promptly <br />replaced with same species originally planted, and of a size closely approximating <br />the size of the plant if normal growth had occurred since the original planting. <br />Replacements shall be subject to the requirements of this Specification. <br />5. When plants are replaced, advise the Owner in writing of the necessary <br />establishment maintenance which must be performed. <br />6. The expense of replacement shall be the responsibility of the Contractor if <br />replacement is necessary after the maintenance period but during the warranty <br />period. <br />7. Replacement shall continue to be made until each plant has successfully <br />established itself for the required guaranty period. <br />505 E Central Ave <br />#B11/6/2024
