CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />127 <br /> Pre-Emergent Weed Control: Ronstar-G, Treflan, Eptam, Vegitex, or <br />approved equal. <br /> Mulch: 3/4 inch size nitrogenized redwood chips, or medium grind bark <br />mulch as produced by Michael Rawls Company or approved equal. <br /> Peat Moss: Sphagnum peat moss, Canadian or European variety, free from <br />alkali. <br /> Soil Sulfur: First quality commercial grade. <br /> Ferrous Iron Sulfate: First quality commercial grade. <br /> Agricultural Gypsum: First quality commercial grade. <br /> Calcium Carbonate Lime: First quality commercial grade. <br /> Root Hormone: Super Thrive. <br /> Planting Tablets: Shall be 21 gram tablets as manufactured by Gro-Power <br />or approved equal. <br /> Backfill mix for general use shall be in accordance with the planting plan <br />notes on the Drawings. <br />5.02.12 PLANT MATERIAL <br />A. IDENTIFICATION: <br />Plant material shall be true to type and nomenclature in accordance with the <br />American Joint Committee on Horticulture Nomenclature Standardized Plant Names, <br />and each bundle or plant shall be properly identified with durable, legible labels. <br />B. QUALITY AND SIZE OF PLANTS (Type per Plans): <br />In accordance with rules and grading of AmericanHort American Standard for <br />Nursery Stock, and as shown on the Drawings. <br />1. Trees, shrubs, and ground covers shall have a normal habit of growth and shall be <br />sound, healthy, vigorous, and free from insect infestations. <br />2. Plants that meet the measurements specified, but do not possess a normal <br />configuration or balance of height and spread, will be rejected. <br />3. Trees and shrubs shall have been grown in containers of the size stated on <br />Drawings, and shall have sufficient roots to hold the root ball together after <br />removal from containers without being rootbound. <br />4. Trees shall be straight and of uniform shape without damaged, crooked, or <br />multiple leaders. Trees with abrasions of the bark, sunscalds, disfiguring knots, or <br />fresh cuts of limbs over 1/2-inch which have not been pruned and painted or <br />completely callused, will be rejected. <br />505 E Central Ave <br />#B11/6/2024
