CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />140 <br />5.03.08 LAWN AND TURF CARE <br />A. MOWING AND EDGING: <br />1. Mowing of turf will commence when the grass has reached a recommended <br />height for the specified species. Mowing will be at least weekly after the first cut. <br />Turf must be well-established and free of bare spots and weeds to the satisfaction <br />of the Engineer prior to final acceptance. <br />2. Excess grass clippings as determined by the Engineer shall be picked up and <br />removed from the site and premises. <br />3. Edges shall be trimmed at least twice monthly or as needed for neat appearance. <br />Clippings shall be removed from walks. <br />B. WATERING: Lawns shall be watered at such frequency as weather conditions <br />require to replenish soil moisture below root zone and maintain healthy growth. <br />C. FERTILIZING: Fertilize as specified under Tree and Shrub Care. <br />D. WEED CONTROL: If needed, control broad leaf weeds with selective herbicides. <br />5.03.09 IRRIGATION SYSTEM <br />A. SUMMARY: Maintenance of irrigation system shall consist of cleaning nozzles, <br />servicing valves, setting controller programs, and other activities required during the <br />landscape maintenance period. <br />B. INSPECTION REQUEST: The Contractor shall check weekly all systems for proper <br />operation. Lateral lines shall be flushed out after removing the last sprinkler head or <br />two at each end of the lateral. All heads are to be adjusted as necessary for <br />unimpeded coverage and to prevent overspray on walls, walks, buildings, etc. <br />C. PROGRAMMING: Set and program automatic controllers for seasonal water <br />requirements. Give Client a key to controllers and written instructions on how to turn <br />off system in case of emergency. <br />D. REPAIR: Repair all damages to irrigation system at Contractor's expense. Repairs <br />shall be made within one watering period. <br />5.03.10 FINAL REVIEW <br />A. CONDUCT FINAL REVIEW at the completion of the formal maintenance period. <br />B. INSPECTION REQUEST: The Contractor shall request the inspection, in writing, to <br />the Engineer 10 working days before the completion of work in order that a mutually <br />agreeable time for inspection may be arranged. <br />505 E Central Ave <br />#B11/6/2024
