CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />198 <br />8.00 SPECIAL PROVISIONS - STORM DRAIN CONSTRUCTION <br />8.01 CONCRETE STRUCTURES <br />Concrete structures shall conform to Subsection 303-1 of the Standard Specifications and <br />these Special Provisions. <br />Once any excavation for the construction of structures is commenced the Contractor must <br />diligently pursue the completion of the structure, including structure backfill, compaction <br />and restoration of surface improvements and temporary or finish paving. Open <br />excavations shall be properly barricaded per traffic control plans, or backfilled or covered <br />with steel traffic plates to prevent the entrance of pedestrian or vehicular traffic at the end <br />of each workday. <br />When it is necessary to increase or decrease the depth of junction structure or the V-depth <br />of a catch basin by one foot or less, no increase or decrease in the unit price bid for such <br />structure will be made. Where such increase or decrease is greater than one foot, the <br />increase or decrease in unit price paid shall be est ablished in accordance with Subsection <br />3-3 of the Standard Specifications. <br />The unit price for each catch basin includes constructing local depression, temporary <br />resurfacing and removing existing curb and gutter, and sidewalk. <br />8.02 MASONRY CONSTRUCTION <br />Masonry construction shall conform to Subsection 303-4 of the Standard Specifications <br />and these Special Provisions. <br />Payment for brick and mortar bulkheads for junction structures and pipes shall be <br />included in the other items of work involved and no separate payment shall be made <br />therefore. <br />8.03 OPEN TRENCH OPERATIONS <br />This section shall conform to Subsection 306-1 of the Standard Specifications and these <br />Special Provisions. <br />When the actual elevation or portion of any existing pipe, conduit or other underground <br />appurtenances cannot be determined without excavation, the Contractor shall excavate <br />and expose the existing improvement (pothole) at the location shown on the Plans and <br />any other locations deemed necessary by the Engineer. The pothole shall be done at least <br />2 weeks in advance of the pipe installation to identify any potential conflicts so that the <br />necessary adjustments can be made. <br />505 E Central Ave <br />#B11/6/2024
