CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br /> <br />199 <br />The first sentence of the first paragraph of Subsection 306-1.1.2 of the Standard <br />Specifications is hereby deleted and replaced with the following: <br />Except by permission of the Engineer, the maximum length of open trench where <br />prefabricated pipe is used shall be the distance necessary to accommodate the <br />amount of pipe installed in a single day. All trenches shall be backfilled or <br />covered with steel traffic plates at the end of each working day. <br />If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the trench subgrade is wet, contaminated or contains <br />unsuitable material due to no fault of the Contractor, the Contractor shall over excavate to <br />a depth determined by the Engineer and place aggregate base as directed by the Engineer. <br />Payment shall be made in accordance with Sub-Section 3-3 of the Standard <br />Specifications. <br />The last two paragraphs of Subsection 306-1.1.3 of the Standard Specifications are <br />hereby deleted. <br />The seventh and eighth paragraphs of Subsection 306-1.3.1 of the Standard <br />Specifications are hereby deleted and replaced with the following: <br />Rocks greater than 4 inches in any dimension will not be permitted in backfill <br />placed between 1 foot above the top of any pipe or cast- in-place structure box <br />and 1 foot below pavement subgrade. <br />Installation of storm drain pipe shall be according to Sub-Section 306-1.2 and City of <br />Santa Ana Standard Plan No. 1150C. <br />Subsection 306-1.3.3 is hereby deleted and replaced with the following: <br />Compaction of backfill by flooding or jetting will not be allowed. <br />The second, fourth and fifth paragraphs of Subsection 306-1.5.1 of the Standard <br />Specifications are hereby deleted and replaced with the following: <br />Payment for all materials used by the Contractor or ordered to be placed by the <br />Engineer, including that used to maintain the temporary resurfacing until the <br />permanent resurfacing is placed, will be considered to be included in the other <br />items of work. <br />The text of Subsection 306-1.6 of the Standard Specifications is hereby deleted and <br />replaced with the following: <br />Pipe and conduit shall be measured along the longitudinal axis between the ends <br />as laid and shall include the actual pipe in place and shall not include the inside <br />dimensions of structures.
