Water: Potable. <br /> <br />D. Admixtures: Comply with requirements specified in Division 3 Section "Cast -In-Place <br />Concrete." <br />1. Do not use admixtures containing calcium chloride or chloride ions. <br /> <br />2.4 COLOR ADMIXTURE <br /> <br />A. Color admixture shall be suitable for flatwork concrete and shall meet or exceed the <br />requirements set by Portland Cement Association (PCA) and ATSM C 494. <br /> <br />B. Color admixture shall be of a type and quality which will not adversely affect workability, <br />setting, or strength of concrete. Color pigments shall consist of chemically inert, non-fading, <br />alkali-fast mineral oxides, finely ground and specially prepared for the use in both cement and <br />mortar. Admixture shall not contain calcium chloride. <br /> <br />C. Color admixture shall be Chromix admixture, manufactured by L.M. Scofield Company, Los <br />Angeles, CA 90040, or approved equal. <br /> <br />D. Mix design shall conform to manufacturer's recommendations, and directions of the Architect <br />to achieve proposed color. Strictly monitor additive / cement ratio throughout job to ensure <br />uniform color. <br /> <br />2.5 CURING MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Absorptive Cover: Burlap cloth made from jute or kenaf, weighing approximately 9 oz. per <br />sq. yd., complying with AASHTO M 182, Class 2. <br /> <br />B. Moisture-Retaining Cover: One of the following, complying with ASTM C 171. <br />1. Waterproof paper. <br />2. Polyethylene film. <br />3. White burlap-polyethylene sheet. <br /> <br />C. Liquid Membrane-Forming Curing Compound: ASTM C 309, Type 1, Class B. Moisture <br />loss not more than 0.55 kg/sq. meter in 72 hours when applied at a rate of 200 sq. ft./gal. <br />1. Provide material that has a maximum volatile organic compound (VOC) rating of 350 <br />g/L. <br />2. Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide one of the following or <br />approved equal: <br />a. L & M Cure R, L & M Construction Chemicals, Inc. <br />b. 1100-Clear, W.R. Meadows, Inc. <br />3. Do not use sodium silicate type curing agents. <br /> <br />D. Evaporation Control: Monomolecular film-forming compound applied to exposed concrete <br />slab surfaces for temporary protection from rapid moisture loss. <br />1. Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide one of the following or <br />approved equal: <br />a. Eucobar; Euclid Chemical Co. <br />b. E-Con; L&M Construction Chemicals, Inc. <br />c. Confilm; Master Builders, Inc. <br /> <br />
