Two-component, elastomeric asphalt modified urethane waterproofing:
a. CIM 1000 and CIM 1000TG (Trowel Grade), by C.I.M. Industries, Inc.
Two-component, high solids, elastomeric asphalt modified urethane.
Designed for spray, squeegee, or roller application. Apply two (2) coats for
a total 120 mil membrane.
2. Or approved equivalent.
2.3 ACCESSORY WATERPROOFING SYSTEM MATERIALS
A. General: Accessory materials as recommended in writing by waterproofing
manufacturer for intended use and compatible with one another and with
waterproofing.
B. Cant Strips: with CIM 1000 Trowel Grade, strike to 45 degrees.
C. Epoxy Primer: CIM EMT Primer to be used at concrete masonry and concrete. CIM
ECO Epoxy Primer at all other surfaces; wood, metal, per manufacturer’s
recommendations. Provide primer at all surfaces, as recommended by manufacturer.
D. Bonding Agent: CIM VOC Compliant Bonding Agent as required by manufacturer.
Substrates must be clean and dry with no oils, grease, or loose debris. See
manufacturer's written instructions for specific surface preparation. Spray apply to all
metal surfaces and existing coatings prior to applying fluid applied membrane to
ensure full adhesion.
E. Reinforcing Scrim (Reinforced Flashing Membrane): CIM Scrim, bonded polyester, to
be used at transitions.
F. Aggregate for Topcoat: Kiln dried, bagged material as recommended in writing by
waterproofing manufacturer for application in top tack coat over 120 mil waterproofing
system.
G. Joint Sealants: Sealants buried under waterproofing shall be two component,
polyurethane-based, elastomeric sealant, ASTM C920, Type M, Grade NS, Class 25,
non-sag type, compatible with waterproofing, as recommended in writing by
waterproofing manufacturer for substrate and joint conditions.
2.4 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
A. General: Provide waterproofing membrane and flashings that remain watertight and
that do not permit the passage of water.
B. Fluid-applied waterproofing:
1. Elastomeric Waterproofing, ASTM C836 and C957: Exceeds all criteria.
2. Solids by volume: 88 %.
3. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC): 0.76 pounds per gallon (92 g/L).
4. Mullen Burst Strength, ASTM D751, 50 mils in CIM Scrim: 150 pounds per
square inch.
5. Tear Strength, ASTM D624, Die C: 150 pounds per inch.
