Fi11 s1o pe surfaces sha11 be com- <br />pacted to a dry density and soil moisture content that is <br />within the range specified in the investigation report. <br />Compaction of fill slopes should be accornplished primarily <br />by rolling on or near the brow of the fill slope during <br />placement of horizontal lifts and secondarily by rolling of <br />the slope surface. <br />Any appreciable amount of loose soil on the face <br />of the finished fill slope must be removed. <br />S1 e Ro11in . The surface of fill slopes may be <br />finished by back-ro11ing with sheepsfoot and grid rollers ' <br />or equivalent equiprnent, which will produce a satisfactorily <br />conpacted surface. Rollers shall be supported from the top <br />of the fill so that the drainage bern at the brow and <br />drainage benches within the slope surfaces are preserved. <br />6. 33 Cut t ing Back .Overbuilding and compacting the <br />fill slope beyond the finished slope line with subsequent <br />trimming of all excess material can be considered as an <br />alternate method of finishing fill slopes. <br />6. 31 <br />6 .32 <br />7.0 PROTECTION OF WORK <br />During construction, the Contractor shall properly <br />grade all excavated surfaces to provide good drainage and <br />prevent ponding of water. He shall control surface water <br />to avoid danage to adjoining proPerties or to finished work
